When Someone Says “I Love You,” RESPOND

Recently I was gravely ill… I heard my mom use that adjective with someone a few weeks ago when explaining what I had been through. Heavy, burdensome, hard to bear - these are all ways to define the root of the word, and all things I am experiencing. Mostly the “hard to bear” part lately. [...]

A Two-Letter Word Changes the World

By |2018-02-09T19:26:29-06:00April 7th, 2016|Evolution, Freedom, God, Interconnected, Paradox, Self Reflection|

The other day I saw a social media post from a spiritual leader that seriously hooked me and within seconds I was completely torqued! Totally pissed me off! Huge judgments running through my mind, and it sat so heavily on me I had to send an email to friend and rant for a couple paragraphs [...]

New Year’s Revolutions

By |2015-12-30T17:02:37-06:00December 30th, 2015|Beginnings, Paradox, Self Reflection, Transformation|

At the end of each December I think about intentions I may want to focus on for the next 365 days because I don’t do resolutions. However, I definitely do REVOLUTIONS. That’s what these questions, What if? and Why not? help create for us. I always have the feeling that maybe, just maybe, I am [...]

Delight in Being Light

By |2018-02-09T19:26:29-06:00December 24th, 2015|Beginnings, Christianity, Paradox|

If you say “Christmas tree” to me or utter the words “Christmas decorations” I immediately become like a 5-year-old and see lights in my mind. I see twinkly, sparkly, dazzling colorful lights all around me. This is one of my most favorite things - the lights at Christmas time. The other night I turned off [...]

Remains of My Day

I just arrived in Salt Lake City for the 2015 Parliament of World’s Religions. There is an expectation of at least 10,000 people from around the world converging on this very diverse city nestled in the Rocky Mountains. That’s a boat load of people speaking over 100 different languages, and sharing as many faith expressions! [...]

You Be Peace, and Then You Be Peace

By |2018-02-09T19:26:30-06:00September 21st, 2015|Consciousness, Interconnected, Paradox, Peace, Sacred Service, Transformation|

So what exactly do I mean when I say you be peace and then you be peace? Well depending on who you ask, if you want peace in the world, you must “BE peace,” meaning you must first find peace in your heart through meditation, or other contemplative practices. You must look within and heal your [...]

Want to Change Your Life? Unpack Your Bags

By |2018-02-09T19:26:30-06:00August 14th, 2015|Beginnings, Consciousness, Interconnected, Paradox, Self Reflection, Transformation|

Did you ever listen to the announcements at the airport about claiming your baggage? In case you didn’t know it, there is baggage claim etiquette: Make your bags easy to find, so buy a suitcase that is neon green or has purple polka dots. My favorite is the one with bright police-crime-scene tape wrapped around [...]

Slowing for the Quickening

By |2019-08-19T21:16:16-05:00August 4th, 2015|Beginnings, Consciousness, Paradox, Self Reflection, Transformation|

Rarely do I think about the spiritual journey as something fast. And yet, how often do I hear the phrase “a quickening of Spirit?” Just saying the word quickening, I can sense the energy ramping up inside me. Sometimes this energy feels frenetic, while at other times it feels lighthearted – like the easygoing innocence [...]

Muppet Theology

By |2018-02-09T19:26:30-06:00April 26th, 2015|Consciousness, God, Greater Reality, Interconnected, Paradox|

Two things I love about the wisdom of the Muppets, First, their philosophy is eternal. It was here long before Jim Henson, and will be here long after the Muppets retire. The second reason I think the Muppets are necessary for life’s learning, is because it reminds me there is hope. Hope for the spiritual realities we yearn for in life, regardless of one’s faith philosophy or tradition.

Being Tenderized

By |2018-02-09T19:26:31-06:00April 20th, 2015|Community, Consciousness, Interconnected, Paradox, Self Reflection|

Whenever I see pictures and cartoons that poke fun at us humans, I generally save them to my phone. And then when the time is right I post them to Facebook, or text them to someone who needs to hear the message even more than I do. For instance, the latest one reads, “If I [...]
